Pewter
Pewter is essentially tin mixed with other metals. Pewter may be fashioned in many ways; by casting in moulds of bell metal, steel or sand using gravity method, by centrifugal casting using rubber or silicone moulds, by spinning on a lathe, pressing, rolling or hand forming.
It can be seen that there are many different skills in the making of pewter, too many to fit into this short introduction. The skills mentioned have been handed down over the centuries and the craftsmen of today are still proud of their heritage. We owe them all a debt of gratitude for their continued efforts to turn out superior articles of beauty.
We hope you will enjoy sharing our enthusiasm for what is becoming known as the Metal of the Millennium.
CARE AND CLEANING OF PEWTER
Pewter should be washed in hot, soapy water or in a mild detergent solution and dried with a soft cloth. Dishwashers are not to be recommended due to the very high temperatures and rather strong detergents used.
